Revitalise volunteer Sharon Bolton giving a speech

For some, becoming a volunteer with our charity creates a connection that lasts a lifetime. Here I share with you the incredible story of Revitalise’s very own Sharon Bolton who earlier this year celebrated an amazing 25 years as a member of staff with our charity.

Having first started pledging her time to support our guests at the weekends back in 1990, Sharon soon became a much loved member of the team, thanks to her sparkling wit and naturally bubbly demeanour, both of which have become trademark traits that so many of us have come to know and love about Sharon over the years.

Speaking of her early days as a volunteer, Sharon commented:

“I call my job a vocation with pay, our centre would be a nursing home with a view if it wasn’t for our wonderful volunteers. Before I worked here I was working in a paper mill on three shifts. Volunteering at Sandpipers is the best thing I’ve ever done, coming here changed my life.

“Volunteering at Sandpipers or any of the centres is one of the best chapters you can have in your own personal autobiography. I’m lucky enough and privileged to have more than one chapter.”

In recognition of Sharon’s 25th year with Revitalise, our CEO Chris travelled up to Sandpipers to give Sharon a little token of our appreciation. It’s the very least she deserves. Maybe this could be you one day…?
