At Revitalise we’re incredibly grateful to work with many charities and trusts who provide us with grants to continue supporting disabled people and carers.

One of those charities is the Freemasons’ Charity the MCF, which provides financial support to a diverse range of worthy causes not only in England and Wales, but also to benefit victims of natural disasters around the world.

This year we’re delighted that MCF have donated a whopping £25,000 to help us make sure disabled people and carers come out of lockdown with essential breaks and holidays to look forward to.

As our fundraising manager, Andrea, said, “We all experienced the isolating and limiting nature of lockdown this year. For many disabled people and their carers this is a constant, lived reality, exacerbated by a lack of care access and resources”.

Thankfully, with support from those like MCF we’re able to help reduce that impact for people like Shaun…

“There are not many places you can go where you are so well supported and reassured to feel that everything will be ok. I’m so glad to have found Revitalise.”

Shaun was registered Blind from birth. Now living on his own, he has found the independence he craved when he was growing up. He has been volunteering for a local organisation, and with his passion for performing arts, set up a community theatre group, creating a solid network of support for himself.

When the pandemic hit, that support network was all but gone, and as a result of crippling isolation and growing anxiety, Shaun’s mental health began to deteriorate. He needed a break.

Nestled beside the Marine Lake and mere moments from Southport Beach, Revitalise Sandpipers provides a calm and relaxing home away from home for those who need us most. Shaun came to us when he was close to breaking point.

At Sandpipers, he finally had company to remedy his loneliness, and his mental health drastically improved. He loved the swimming pool, taking part in theme days and spending time with our other guests, with whom he has made lasting friendships. Shaun said of his break:

“The staff at Sandpipers went out of their way to support me. They are absolutely amazing.”

Support from the Freemasons will bring much-needed respite for disabled people and carers from Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Northamptonshire.

Revitalise would like to say a huge thank you to the Freemasons’ charity the MCF for this donation. We are very grateful for it.
