Meet Darren Holloran

Our seventh story of Christmas is from our very own General Manager Darren Holloran from Sandpipers in Southport!

Darren started at Revitalise Sandpipers in 2001 and went straight in as General Manager. We sat down with Darren recently to ask him a few questions about what life is like at Sandpipers and want to share his story with you.

Darren’s earliest memory at Revitalise was volunteering with us. He wanted to experience working at Revitalise from a volunteer perspective before he got stuck in with his full-time role as General Manager and remembers supporting a guest who had been in a motorbike accident, he said:

“I can fondly remember being a volunteer and helping Steve to swim in a hydrotherapy pool, and I have many more memories at our very own pool here in Southport.”

As the centre manager, Darren loves that his job is so varied and unique. There really is no other job like it. Working at Revitalise has even inspired his daughter to work there from time-to-time who is currently studying at University. She wants to pursue a career in the hotel and tourism industry so working at Revitalise is the perfect place to get this experience!

One thing you may not know about Darren is that he is very passionate about Taekwondo and holds a Third Degree Black Belt and trains about three times a week! Darren also ran the London Marathon for Revitalise back in 2002.

We asked Darren which job he’d love to do at Revitalise if he could switch with anyone in his team and he said he’d like to be the activities co-ordinator to ensure guests have the absolute time of their lives! And as well as loving our Wish You Were Here campaign, his favourite week theme is Viva Las Vegas!
