Revitalise confirm appointment of Jan Tregelles as charity’s CEO
Revitalise Respite Holidays, the UK’s largest specialist provider of respite breaks for seriously ill and disabled people, are delighted to confirm the appointment of Jan Tregelles as Chief Executive Officer. Jan has been with Revitalise since January in an interim capacity and has now accepted the role on a permanent basis.
Since joining Revitalise nine months ago, Jan has steered the charity through the pandemic, negotiating an agreement with the NHS which allows patients from local hospitals to recover at the charity’s respite centres, freeing up much-needed hospital beds for COVID-19 patients.
In September, Jan spearheaded the launch of the Revitalise #CareForCarers campaign, designed to shine a spotlight on the plight of home carers since lockdown and Government guidelines that are currently preventing short respite breaks. The campaign also aims to raise £1m, so that it can subsidise respite breaks for thousands of families.
Commenting on her new appointment, CEO Jan Tregelles said:
“I am thrilled to accept the role and to continue the charity’s vital work. In my short time here, I have seen the enormous impact Revitalise has. For over 57 years it has been a lifeline to thousands of families, and they need us now, more than ever.
“I shall relish the opportunity to steer Revitalise through these challenging times and beyond, so we can emerge stronger, more resilient and able to support families when they need us most.”
Revitalise Chairman George Blunden added:
‘I am absolutely delighted that Jan has agreed to join Revitalise as our Chief Executive Officer.
“It has been an immense pleasure to work with Jan since she started as Interim CEO earlier this year. It is thanks to her enormous energy and determination, and her overwhelming commitment to changing the lives of seriously ill and disabled people and their families, that we have been able to navigate the extremely challenging circumstances caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. Welcome, Jan.”
Jan Tregelles joins Revitalise after 22 years at the leading learning disability charity, the Royal Mencap Society, the last seven as CEO. She stepped down after completing the first five-year phase of Mencap’s Big Plan strategy. Jan was previously the organization’s Director of Personal Support and was credited with establishing Golden Lane Housing. She brings a wealth of experience, from regulated services to the wider social care agenda.
Last year, Jan also became Chair of the charity ‘Access Your Right to Care’, an organisation that secures access to justice for people with social care needs.
