Respite holiday centre held event to showcase volunteering opportunities to local community
In celebration of Volunteers’ Week taking place from 1-7 June, local respite holiday centre Revitalise Sandpipers held a Volunteer Open Day yesterday afternoon to showcase volunteering opportunities to members of the local community.
The event, organised by Revitalise Sandpipers and long-term volunteer Kathleen Bamping, was a fantastic opportunity for the charity to welcome and engage with members of the local community, while promoting its volunteering opportunities.
Speaking of the event’s success, Leslie ‘Sparkey’ Sparkes, Revitalise’s Guest Relations Manager commented:
“We had a fantastic turn out for our Volunteer Open Day yesterday, which was great. Having the chance to open our doors to local people and to share the work that we do is always rewarding. Sandpipers is lucky to be surrounded by a great community of people and I’m hopeful that our event will have inspired more people to spend time with us in the future.”
Kathleen Bamping, a long-term volunteer of Revitalise Sandpipers added:
“I’ve volunteered with Revitalise for over 20 years now. Over the years I’ve experienced how rewarding it is to support guests enjoying a holiday at Sandpipers and I wanted the chance to share that with others, something I am so proud to have been able to do.”
