Respite holiday information for GPs and Social Care providers

Revitalise is a national charity that creates respite breaks, holidays and experiences for disabled people and carers. Combining a true holiday experience with the reassurance of care makes us completely unique – there is no one else in the UK that does what we do. We pride ourselves on supporting carers too, ensuring that they can also benefit from a proper break, as well as their loved ones.

If you’re a General Practitioner or social care provider, please consider referring a Revitalise holiday to someone who you feel would benefit from a respite break.

The importance of respite holidays for disabled people and carers

Respite breaks are vital to both disabled people and carers, with time away helping prevent the caring relationship from breaking down. Traditional respite care offers short-term relief for full-time carers, and often takes place in a clinical care facility.

The form of respite we offer is entirely unique to what people traditionally think of. We tailor our service to each guest and their individual care needs. Equally, our breaks feel like a proper holiday for disabled people and their carers, backed by the reassurance of care.

The impact of a respite holiday on an individual’s mental health and wellbeing can be transformative. It can improve patient activation and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Who are respite holidays for?

We provide respite holidays for disabled people and carers aged 18 or over. Carers can choose to have a break with us too, but they are not required to. They are more than welcome to come along with the person they care for and have a proper holiday, while we take over the care.

Specialist breaks

We offer several specialist weeks throughout the year. These include our ever-popular youth weeks and our Treasured Moments weeks for Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Treasured Moments

Each year we run several Treasured Moments weeks, specially designed for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as their loved ones. The goal of the week is to rekindle and nurture relationships, by bringing people together while we take on the caring duties. Extra measures are taken during these weeks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our guests. Additionally our staff are trained as Dementia Friends, providing additional support and reassurance.
