The Give me a break Appeal
This campaign aims to raise both regional and national awareness of the severe challenges facing disabled people and carers and calls for more to be done to provide respite funding.
Angela had only £200 in her account when she recently rang Revitalise and this amount had to last her for the next two weeks. Angela comes to Revitalise for respite in January each year, as this is when her SAD is at its worst. She describes Revitalise as being a lifeline for her.
By the time she called us, her financial situation had caused her a breakdown, and the added stress of having to look into funding was causing it to worsen. Revitalise helped Angela to navigate the funding application process and topped up her existing funding from our own Joan Brander Fund.
Angela has described how a break at Revitalise Sandpipers is like going from walking in complete darkness to seeing light, and how a weight is always lifted from her.
Please note: This guest’s name has been changed at her request.

Funding for respite break needs to be protected. Without something to look forward to, more caring relationships will break down. This isn’t just a holiday. It’s a lifeline.
