Update on plans to redevelop Revitalise’s holiday centres

In our 2022 annual report we set out an ambitious plan for a wholesale transformation of our holiday centres, which, after two years of delivering high-dependency step-down care, were in need of refurbishment and modernisation. Our aim has always been to re-envision respite holidays and provide an exemplar for others to follow across accessibility, care support and hospitality, whilst also increasing the number of guests we can support each year.

Jubilee Lodge

The refurbishment of all rooms at Jubilee Lodge should be complete by the middle of next year. We shall be working closely with funders and supporters in the community to raise funds to complete the work before turning our attention to improvements to the garden and redevelopment of the library and other popular amenities.

Sandpipers

We are also working hard to secure sufficient funding to start work on an extension at Sandpipers next year. We have recently commissioned contractors to carry out these works which will increase capacity of our Southport-based centre from 38 to 50 guests. Our fundraisers will be working with local trusts, private individuals and other funders to raise further money to refurbish existing bedrooms, improve the exterior face of the building, remodel the reception and entrance to the centre and re-landscape the gardens overlooking the beautiful marine lake.

Netley Waterside House

We have also secured planning permission for a complete transformation of Waterside House in Netley. However, since our ambitious plans to redevelop Waterside House were put in place, much has changed in the external operating environment. The impact of the pandemic and the war in Ukraine on the economy means that the cost of the Waterside House project is likely to be significantly greater than the original estimate.

Given the challenging operating environment, the Trustees and the Executive Team have therefore taken the difficult decision to market the site in Netley for sale.  Should we receive a suitable offer for the purchase of this site, we will use the proceeds of the sale to find alternative ways to achieve our long-term goal of increasing the number of disabled people and carers Revitalise can serve. Meanwhile, former guests of Waterside House wishing to take holidays at other Revitalise centres will be granted financial support to cover additional travelling costs in 2023.

We want to thank all our staff, guests, supporters, volunteers, and friends for their extraordinary support both before, during and after the Covid 19 pandemic. You have kept faith with us during an exceptionally challenging period and we are delighted to say that we reached full capacity at Jubilee Lodge and Sandpipers for most months this year. This gives us confidence in our continued commitment to the development of Jubilee Lodge and Sandpipers and to offering even more holiday opportunities in the future. We promise to keep you updated on our progress.
