Alan Knight opens Revitalise biggest charity shop

We are delighted to announce the opening of a shiny new Revitalise charity shop in beautiful Portsmouth. Each shop opening is important to us, but this one was extra special. Not only did local football legend Alan Knight MBE cut the ribbon, it is also our largest charity shop to date!

Our team of staff and volunteers made sure everything went like a dream for the big day. Even the weather was kind to us on what turned out to be a perfectly crisp and sunny February morning. Anticipation and excitement built as the local community queued early for their first glance of the new shop, as well as to see and take photos with Alan (of course).

After the formal ribbon cutting, the shop quickly filled with eager customers browsing the racks of kindly donated items. Customers were especially impressed with the sense of space and wide range of items, thanks in large part to our bigger, new location.

Best of all was the sight of several individuals bringing in their donations and comfortably navigating through the shop on their mobility scooters. Inclusivity is at the heart of what we do at Revitalise, in both our centres and our shops, so we really cherish sights like these.

Our tills rang merrily throughout the day, bringing an incredible number of donations to support the work we do at Revitalise, along with fortuitous signs of what’s to come!

We love supporting and working with local communities, so are especially delighted our new charity shop will help inject life back into the local Portsmouth high street after what has been a challenging two years for retail.? In Alan’s own words:

“The last 24 months has seen the high street struggle enormously, with many shops shutting for good. Not only am I thrilled that Revitalise are bringing jobs back to Portsmouth and the high street, moreover, all of their profits will benefit disabled people and carers who enjoy their much-needed holidays.”

We are opening another charity shop in Portsmouth on Thursday 31 March – so if you live in Portsmouth, please do join us!
