Revitalise are delighted to confirm the appointment of Helen Giles to the new role of Director of People & Culture. Helen will be in charge of developing human resources and organisational development strategies, as well as overseeing Revitalise’s residential volunteering programme, the largest of any UK charity.

Helen’s appointment reflects new energy and resource behind Revitalise’s growth ambitions as the UK emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic. Already the UK’s largest provider of respite holidays, Revitalise are developing a new, three-year strategy to increase the charity’s reach and impact, and ensure disabled people and carers can enjoy the breaks and holidays they need.

Commenting on the new appointment, CEO Jan Tregelles said: “We are thrilled that Helen is joining the Revitalise team and at such a transitional time in our charity’s history. Our mission as an organisation has always centered around the wellbeing and happiness of our guests, and our people are a huge part of this. With Helen’s support, we will set out our new People Strategy this year, ensuring that a positive, inclusive and unified working culture is at the heart of everything we do. Welcome Helen.”

Of her new role, Helen Giles said: “I am delighted to be joining a brilliant, important and exciting organisation like Revitalise. I am inspired by the charity’s many years of providing fantastic respite holidays to disabled people and their carers and feel privileged to join the team.”

A skilled all-rounder with many years’ experience within the charity sector under her belt, Helen joins Revitalise from her role as Executive Director of People and Governance within St Mungo’s Housing Association, where she successfully led a major programme of organisational and cultural assimilation following a large-scale merger.

Before this, Helen set up and worked at social enterprise human resources consultancy Real People as the Managing Director, providing support and training to charities and SME businesses. She also worked at Broadway Homelessness and Support as Human Resources Director, providing services to homeless people under contracts from local and central government.

For 57 years, Revitalise has provided respite care breaks to a huge range of people. These are a vital lifeline to so many unpaid home carers and their disabled family members.
