Learn moreLearn how to include Revitalise in your Will to create a lasting difference to future generations of disabled people and their carers.
The first thing to do is decide who you would like to benefit from your estate.
Your will is an important and personal document and, as a charity, we understand the needs of friends and loved ones will be many peoples’ priority when writing their will.
If this is the case, giving a gift that is expressed as a percentage of whatever is left within your estate, after any bills are paid and loved ones are taken care of, could be a good option to consider.
Gifts that are expressed as a percentage of the value of whatever you leave behind, sometimes known as residuary gifts have several advantages. First, the proportion you have chosen to give to loved ones or to charities won’t be affected by inflation or changes in your own circumstances. This may reduce the need to change your will at a later date. What’s more, if you choose to give 10% or more of your estate to charity, the inheritance tax benefits that apply to all charitable estates over a certain value could be even greater.
The next step is to find a solicitor or other appropriate provider to make this happen and ensure your wishes and your intentions are wishes are correctly reflected in your will. This can either be done online, over the phone or in person and with the right professional help, the task can be very straightforward
