Volunteer at a Revitalise centre

Volunteer with disabled people at one of our centres and join the largest residential volunteering programme of any UK charity. Each year, around 2,000 volunteers join us across our centres, generously donating over 4,000 weeks of their time! Our centre volunteers form a crucial part of the Revitalise team and are often mentioned by our guests as a big part of what makes their holiday so special.

We also have teams of volunteers local to our centres. They support our centres in a range of roles from joining excursions and leading activities, to gardening and maintenance. However you choose to get involved, you will be supporting our vital work to help disabled people and their carers have a well-deserved break.

Why volunteer with Revitalise

You’ll make new friends, enhance your CV, gain confidence and learn valuable skills that can be applied to life and your career.

Our vision is to create a society in which every disabled person and every carer is able to take the break or holiday they want. By volunteering in our centres, you’ll have a direct impact on making that happen.

Our Values

  • We are inclusive. We welcome everyone.
  • We are change-makers. We make things happen for our guests and for disabled people.
  • We are caring. We care about our guests and about each other. We are guest obsessed.
  • We are joyful. Fun, warmth and laughter are at the heart of everything we do.
  • We are hardworking. We strive for excellence and we do not give up.

Residential Volunteering Opportunities

As well as opportunities to support us on a daily basis, we have short term and long term residential opportunities. The minimum length of stay is 7 nights and our volunteers can stay with us from any length of time up to a year.

Social Volunteers

Our Social Volunteers usually stay for 1-2 weeks (but can stay longer) and provide companionship and support to our guests by chatting with them at meal times, making teas or coffees, accompanying them on daily excursions to local sites and enjoying the evening entertainment with them. Friendly, enthusiastic volunteers create the holiday atmosphere just by being there!

The role also involves some personal support such as assisting with mobility and eating and drinking, but you won’t be asked to do anything you aren’t comfortable with. Our volunteers also support the dining room by serving breakfast, washing up after dinner and laying the tables for the next day.

Care Support Volunteers

As well as providing companionship and social support to our guests, volunteers staying more than 2 weeks can choose to receive training to provide higher levels of care to our guests. It is up to each volunteer how far they progress with the training and the speed at which they would like to complete the elements — there is no time pressure to complete any part. If you are interested in gaining experience in care or nursing, this is a great way to do it.

Training is also available to regular or returning volunteers. So volunteers can pick up from where they left off the next time they are with us!

Every individual is unique, and it’s important to understand whether a residential volunteering placement to assist our disabled guests at Revitalise, aligns with your interests and capabilities. Whether you personally have a disability or not, we strive to accommodate everyone, ensuring all are welcome.

We encourage applications from individuals with disabilities and carefully assess each application to determine if our volunteer centres can meet your requirements and what adjustments we can make where needed.  In some cases this might involve inviting you to consider a different role to that which first attracted you.  For example, if you have a physical disability that would make it challenging for you to directly support our guests in a residential placement in our holiday centres, you may want to support our social media work, send thank you letters to donors or support our community fundraising.

Daily/Occasional Opportunities:

As a Community Volunteer, helping in your local Revitalise centre on a daily basis is a tremendous support to us. You could spend time chatting with guests, accompanying them on excursions or hosting a coffee morning. Other options are helping in our gardens, shops or bars. You could also use your current skill-set to lead an activity in the centre. Any time you can give is greatly appreciated!
